Went to my second drop-in Swing class, at a different venue, where I learnt Lindy Hop – basic 8 count step, swing out, and circle movements. Whereas yesterday, I had learnt the Charleston.

I like the rotating partner format where you dance with different people, which is a great way to meet people (although I don’t really chat too much), and also to learn how to dance, and that partners do really matter! As a follower, it really helps when I dance with a good leader – and there are distinct differences. And everyone is really friendly, patient, and kind… especially when I muck up my steps once it gets more complicated!

I was feeling super high and happy after the class. I went from being glum, and uncertain about joining the class, to being all happy and springy after the class.

I think there’s definitely something about swing which is just particularly uplifting – it’s such a happy, fun dance. And it’s actually pretty good cardio.

So I think I’ll go regularly over the coming months.
