First full day of my first cruise was an “at sea” day, which was just about resting, and getting my bearings.
I had planned to wake up early to run 16K, but I was so exhausted, that I decided to set a later alarm, but then massively overslept. So I woke up at 9:45, woke the kids up, skipped breakfast and bundled them off to the kids’ club morning session (booked for 9:30-12:00), went for my run (only managed 12K out of 16K), and then we had lunch at Horizon buffet, where F did a better job of putting together a more complete meal than dinner last night.
I rested after lunch while the kids practiced their violin, then I went to my first ‘activity’, which was a talk. More resting, then we went to the pool, which was a bit tragic. The pool was mega crowded and chaotic with crazy kids (mine included), which made it challenging to do swimming drills. And the boys got into a fight, with F crying, in no time at all. My conclusion: I am going to the pool at a quiet time, without the boys, for my swim practice.
Dinner at The Quays, which the boys liked better. One of O’s teeth fell out. After dinner, at the boys’ insistence, I dropped them off to the kids’ club again. This gave me time to visit the ship’s different bars for live music performances and while having the complimentary “Celebration Night” drinks. I watched a juggling / comedy show, then went for Silent Disco at the SkyDome on deck 17, where two deejays (Blue vs Red stations) were competing to get the crowd moving. There were quite a few kids with their parents there. I wish the boys would be willing to participate. It would make me look less weird dancing alone maybe. On the other hand, I’m not that bothered, as long as I have good music to dance to.
