It’s been a while since I wake up remembering my dream, but this morning, I did.

I dreamt that I was in a big kitchen (quite ‘professional’ like a a restaurant kitchen) with a group of other people (I can’t remember who they are now) preparing to cook…. I think for an occasion… when suddenly a tiny grey mouse appeared on the prep surface, which we got rid of. But then more mice appeared – another tiny mouse appeared, and then another… which we got rid of again. But I began to fear a wholesale mouse infestation, and potentially needing to call off / stop the meal prep.This is all I remember of the dream. I’m not sure what happened next.

I wonder if it means something – there are many possible interpretations. Or maybe it could be as prosaic as being a consequence of Byron, our cat, giving me a ‘present’ last night – a dead little grey mouse on the bed.

I had entered the bedroom and flung my coat on the bed and was half distracted by something else when I suddenly noticed the dead mouse between my shorts and my coat… and I just started screaming and screaming until the kids and the nanny came running down. I think I was just so shocked that I didn’t realise it was there, and that I could have sat on it, on put my coat on it, that I couldn’t stop screaming. My kids were completely unfazed and wanted to prod if to check if it was truly dead, and I blocked them (It could spring to life! Zombie mouse! Or be diseased!!). My nanny was even more squeamish than me, and ran out of the room and up the stairs with a scream after she saw the mouse.

But today, in one of the episodes of Empress Ki (recommended by my cousin) I watched, there was also a manufactured rat infestation by Wang Yoo (as part of a complicated plot line). I wonder if this is a sign…?
