Quiet Sunday with no particular plans, just the intention to declutter / tidy before part 1 of Project Home Improvement next weekend, and to get a new pair of running shoes while my Hoka Bondi 8 are held hostage for my return / repair investigation. It also happened to be both the day the clocks changed *and* UK Mother’s Day. I didn’t realised clocks were changing, so slept less than I had intended to. If I had known, I would stayed in bed until ~10am instead, of getting up at ~9am.
I got my studying out of the way in the morning, because I’ve been neglecting my learning terribly the last few weeks. It’s easier to keep things going when it’s part of a routine and habit. So I just need to get it back into my routine.
Tried to bring Byron for a walk, but he seemed scared, and I didn’t really have the time or mood to insist, so I brought him back home.

It was really bright and sunny out, so I didn’t feel like being good and cooped up to home decluttering -the studying was bad (or good) enough! It’s early enough in spring for me to want to be outside when the days are bright and relatively balmy, so decided to head to town for lunch. Had a bah kut the at Singapulah. I had a bit of craving last night, but there was a queue, so I skipped it, and went back today instead. As a bit of a Mother’s Day’s treat to myself 🙂 I also can’t be constantly having instant noodles… especially not both meals on Mother’s Day.

I wanted to get another gait analysis / foot scan before I got my new pair of shoes. They didn’t accept walk ins, so I had to book a time slightly later in the day, so I killed time in a cafe and did some travel admin for my upcoming UAE trip. Based on my current running patterns, and the shoes I already have, the guy recommended Hoka Mach 6 initially, but also suggested Hoka Clifton 9 or Saucony Speed Endorphin 4 as options. Clifton 9 was more cushy, and the Saucony for a more responsive shoe. I tried them all, and eventually went for a Hoka Mach 6. I’m gutted that they no longer have the illusion / dusk colourway that I fell in love with, late last year. I wish I had bought it then. But I decided not to be superficial and be focussed on function, and bought the Bondi 8 instead. Now I just have a nice enough but uninspiring colourway.

MHH confirmed that we are still on for next week, so I started decluttering a bit again. Thankfully, I’ve just discovered I have a relatively light and flexible day tomorrow, so I should be able to make some time to make some more headway. I really need to be ruthless and productive and restart my KonMari-ing again! I would say I’ve probably done one cycle of everything – kind of. But in a light touch way. There’s definitely more to go. And Spring is clearly the perfect time to be spring cleaning. 🙂
I also applied to 2 new jobs, or at least responded to recruiter emails to set up an intro call. Come on… I need to reboot my 2025 resolutions’ efforts!!
