I feel like I’m getting worse and worse at ski all the time. But maybe it’s because I’m still recovering from my mild cold, and I’m tired because I slept very poorly last night – my nose was dripping almost the entire ski, and my throat was really dry. But this was also the first time I’ve ever skied 2 whole kilometres!

Over dinner, i asked the boys which countries they are most excited to go to next.
F said, “Taiwan and Japan.” Then added, “The problem is that they are very far and very expensive.” Oh bless, my little darling.
O also agreed on Japan, and after prompting for another country, he added Norway to the mix.
I asked why they picked the countries, and F said because of food. He wants to eat sushi. I said there was a Hyrox in Yokohama this year, but we can’t go as it is in first half of August, when I don’t have the boys with me. But I said that maybe we could go next year, now that they have given me the heads up. It *is* a very long and expensive journey, so I’m not sure how feasible it is, but it’s good to know. F said, “I want to visit Tokyo and Kyoto, not Yokohama”. When I asked why, he said it’s because Kyoto and Tokyo are good for sushi, and Kyoto also has Mister Omurice. I burst out laughing when he talked about Mister Omurice. O said he also picked Japan because of the food – he wants to eat sushi.
I asked F why Taiwan then? He responded, “Also because of the food.” I was really puzzled as I didn’t think Taiwanese food was that differentially spectacular. I thought maybe he wanted to visit some of his old nannies. He said that the snacks in Taiwan are really good. And when I said that he can get Taiwanese snacks in London, he said, “Not really. You can’t get the 梅子 (plum)… not the normal 梅子, but the green one which comes in a bag”. Oh-kay…
I asked O why Norway – surely not the food?? He said he likes the weather – the snow. I was like, you get snow in London too. He said, not really. But then he also mentioned the fjords, which Papa had talked about, but they didn’t visit. He did acknowledge that if he gets to see the fjords, he wouldn’t see snow – as they are available in different seasons.
Noted. Shame I don’t add new countries with Japan and Norway. Only Taiwan. But they take after their parents alright – food-loving! 🙂
