Caught up and finished all the available Virgin River seasons / episodes today. Season 6 ended with Mel & Jack’s wedding, making this a love and wedding-themed few days, after Italian Stallion’s wedding.

Lots of themes in the penultimate and last episodes, in particular:

  • Fear of loss / losing loved ones, which caused Mel to freak out and run away. Love as acceptance – of the past, broken places and all, good and bad, of a life lived, which helps us know what we want, and being there for each other. Good old Jack.
  • Brie / Brady’s complicated dynamic. Her wanting him to be a woman who matches him, challenges him and brings out the best in him. Him saying that she was that person for him, and that he knew within 10 seconds that she was the one for him – that was never the question. The only question was whether he was the one for her. And that he would never feel that way about anyone else. I’ve always Team Brady rather than Team Mike. From Day 1.
  • Brady’s advice to Kaia that sometimes two people just aren’t right for each other, and you can’t let one person get in the way of your next relationship.
  • Kaia / Preacher, with Kaia’s fear of marriage after her failed first marriage. And Preacher changing his best man’s speech from being centred around marriage requiring grit, determination and commitment to growing together rather apart, to focussing on love. Falling in love as an act of courage, but a greater act of courage is falling again.
