I had a long run programmed by Runna today – 12K total, with 8K at conversational pace, the 1K @5:25min/km, then 3K at conversational pace. Because I can’t do my long run this weekend, and had the school run, I had to do it mid / late morning, which is not a time I am used to, and it’s also warmer (albeit thankfully this was a cool day). I still felt quite tired from my Drop Set on Tuesday, and Strength Training and Swimming on Wednesday, so I did most of the run at the very glacial pace of ~7:00min/km. I spent the first 8K wondering if I had enough gas in the tank to complete 12K, and particularly hit 5:25min/km for 1 whole KM after 8K of solid jog. It’s quite a long run compared to all the short runs which have been programmed so far. I’m no longer used to running half marathons every couple of weeks, and 15+K virtually every interval session, which was Garmin’s programming.
Thankfully, I managed it… even though I was tempted to call it quits and do my Easy run today, I managed to complete the 12K, and hit 5:25min/km almost to the T. But Garmin was not impressed with my run, and my race predictor tanked across all distances. Oh well.

I then went for a cardio / HIIT class at my Strength gym, really with the intention of seeing if I could get anaerobic “credit” from Garmin. To no avail. Boo. But I’ve been completely exhausted and drained after that. I’m not entirely sure what possessed me to sign up for a class after a 12K run when I was already feeling somewhat tired. And on my period too.
I hope all of this hard work pays off at my next race. If I don’t qualify in July, I don’t think I’ll have another opportunity for next WC. But now and mid July is a bit short to make huge strides. So I really hope the fast Indon girls don’t turn up.
I watched more episodes of Atypical, and I was crying at some point, when O asked me to go to his room for bed time. He was like, “Why are you crying?” I said that I’m watching a TV series and it’s quite touching, and he was like, “You’re such cry baby Mama”.
