In late January, we wanted to test Baby-Ao’s understanding of what we say, in both French and Mandarin.
Towards the end of last year, the Boy and I made the decision to move Baby-Ao to a new nursery …
We’re trying to raise Baby-Ao to be trilingual, so the language I’m responsible for is Mandarin Chinese, which is a big ask, since my Chinese is laughably crap. I went back home for my friend’s wedding this past November, and the guys who knew me from back in the days were quite stunned that I was speaking so much Chinese – probably more Chinese in the course of several hours, than they had ever heard from me during the years they had known me.
By “sings”, I mostly mean “hums”, except for “Ee ai ee ai oh” (from “Old McDonalds”), which he articulates quite well.
For the other tunes, there is often a hint of a shadow of words, which is why I know (or guess) that it’s in one particular language, even if there are songs with the same tune in different languages. But with the Boy’s help – because he really does think of putting everything down, whereas to me, my highlights were only ‘added new countries’ and ‘started a new job’ – I have a halfway decent list of “highlights”, albeit some pretty lame ones.
The Boy has left the flat and is taking a flight to Russia for work. He will be away from tonight (Thursday night) and returning Saturday evening (12 April). Which means that I will be home alone with Aodren!! :-O
Today marks the first time Baby-Ao has properly vomitted. Prior to this, he has only possetted or regurgitated milk post-feed. …
Late last month (27 or 28 Feb), I put together a treasure basket for home use. I never would have …
